I was hunting around on this afternoon looking for a good location and subject to capture in the golden light of the setting sun. I noticed the rice fields as I was riding past on my motorbike and loved the lush green they were and virtually on the eve of being harvested.
There is something about the rice fields of Sumatra. Be it from a low perspective or high perspective there is a beauty in the mood, texture and patterns and I like the mood in this photo of the rice fields in south west Sumatra. I set a low exposure for this shot as I wanted to get the sunset exposed. Initially I tried create a HDR with 3 exposures but it just did not have the same feel and mood as this single frame edit. While the sunset was exposed the rice fields and foreground were quite dark, which turned out great because I was able to do selective editing to get some exposure and focus for the eye to view.
I have decided to add this photo to my prints collection where you can view and select sizes to purchase for your home and or office. View the purchase options here.
