No Ordinary Journey (Part 4 – Lake Manyara and Zanzibar)
August 29, 2009 By  Bruce With  0 Comment
In  Tanzania  /  Tanzanian Dream

Continued from No Ordinary Journey Part 3

We woke early to depart for Lake Manyara. Mosses and the crew packed the safari vehicle and we were off early. Lake Natron was a nice spot but we really wanted to head off to capture some more game viewing at Lake Manyara. It was a long drive over rough and dusty roads but the view was simply stunning. There were Giraffe everywhere, it was spectacular.

After a long haul over rough road for most of the morning, we arrived at Lake Manyara for a 1/2 day of game viewing. Lake Manyara is a spectacular lake south of Ngorongoro Crater. Mosses opened up the top of the safari vehicle and we headed into Lake Manyara. The wildlife in Lake Manyara was simple amazing. A mixture of open and forested areas, the lake has it all. The highlight were the Elephants and the Lions, Mosses managed to get very close to the action.

We soon moved on after a big day and Justin and I were dropped off by Mosses at the E’Unoto Retreat. An amazing retreat nestled at the foot of the Rift Valley. We had a good meal and some awesome entertainment.

After our stay at E’Unoto Justin and I flew out from Arusha to Zanzibar to meet up with Kellie, Imogen and Darcy. We said goodbye to Mosses and headed to Zanzibar. We landed in Stone Town and headed to Kendwa beach on the northern tip of Zanzibar. We met up with Kellie and the kids and I spent an amazing 6 days chilling out on the beach.

Well I couldn’t just sit around on the beach every day. So before I arrived Kellie had organised to do some diving and I went and did my open water diving certificate. Scuba Do in Zanzibar were amazing people. I can totally recommend them if you ever find yourself in Zanzibar. I now have a new perspective on the underwater world and it is something I hope to continue.

So that marks the end of an amazing life changing journey. I will be back in Africa again and I hope it can be sooner rather than later. Check out the whole story here or check out the videos here.
